DAVE’S REVISED HOME

(Completed in Newbern, Alabama in 2019)

As part of a team of four I designed, built, and occupied a prototype for rural affordable housing at Auburn University’s Rural Studio. We designed a version of the 20K Home that is not only affordable to build but also affordable to live in, due to lower utility bills and home insurance payments. We then tested our design by comparing it to a baseline home using sensors and our observations.

This project also involved consultation with Oak Ridge National Laboratory, building science research, and acquiring supplies and donations. Our presentation at the Civic Design Center in Nashville, Tennessee is available to watch here.
